What these specs mean

Core thickness
Very thick cores (17 mm and up) push further toward softness and stability, usually at the cost of power.
Core material
Polypropylene honeycomb is the most widely used core. The plastic cells absorb impact, giving a quiet, soft and forgiving feel that suits control and touch.
Face
Carbon fiber faces are stiff and light, generally favoring control and a consistent response.

These are typical tendencies of each construction. Weight, balance, surface treatment and each brand's specific materials also change how a paddle plays.

How it compares

  • Thicker than 98% of the 4,307 approved paddles with a listed core thickness.
  • Polypropylene honeycomb cores: 3,546 of the 4,597 approved paddles with a listed core material (77%).
  • 1 of 246 approved polypropylene honeycomb-core paddles first approved in 2021.
  • Carbon fiber faces: 2,155 of the 4,596 approved paddles with a listed face material (47%).
