What these specs mean

Core material
Polypropylene honeycomb is the most widely used core. The plastic cells absorb impact, giving a quiet, soft and forgiving feel that suits control and touch.
Face
Carbon fiber faces are stiff and light, generally favoring control and a consistent response.

These are typical tendencies of each construction. Weight, balance, surface treatment and each brand's specific materials also change how a paddle plays.

How it compares

  • Polypropylene honeycomb cores: 2,595 of the 3,428 approved paddles with a listed core material (76%).
  • 1 of 1,137 approved polypropylene honeycomb-core paddles first approved in 2024.
  • Carbon fiber faces: 1,701 of the 3,428 approved paddles with a listed face material (50%).
